RDRAM Memory: Rambus, PC800, PC1066, Computers And Benefits

For many people involved in the use of computers, it is not entirely surprising to see them referring to Rambus and to RDRAM Memory as one single entity. Yet Rambus and RDRAM Memory are actually two different things. Rambus is actually a company involved in the manufacture of memory for computers while RDRAM Memory is the product, specifically, a revolutionary computer memory that was first introduced by Rambus.

Of all computer memories ever designed by computer manufacturers, the RDRAM Memory is said to be the fastest in terms of rate of transfer. The typical RDRAM Memory is said to be capable of transferring data at an amazing speed of more than 1 Ghz. Of the many benefits that computers can gain from using RDRAM Memory, speed is very important. This is what may have inspired Intel Corporation to enter into a partnership with Rambus and grant a license to the RDRAM Memory so that RDRAM Memory can be used in future motherboard models of Intel. This agreement was finalized in 1997, and it would be generally safe to assume that the RDRAM Memory since then has made significant headways in making the performance of many computers a lot better.

As of 1999, the RDRAM Memory has actively taken part in many of the computers being offered by Intel. More specifically, RDRAM Memory is a major component in Intel processors under the brand name of Pentium III Xeon. At present, there is an ongoing deal between Rambus and Intel to create an even better model of the RDRAM Memory, one where the rate of transfer using the RDRAM Memory will be set at a speed of 1,600 MHz.

In the meantime, however, most computers should find the available speeds of the RDRAM Memory to be quite sufficient. There are actually several RDRAM Memory speeds that one can choose from, including those of the PC800, PC1066, PC700, PC600, and many others. Of these, the RDRAM Memory of the PC800 is acknowledged as having the fastest rate of transfer.

Since Intel is a major user of RDRAM Memory, it is only natural that many of its modern computers carry the RDRAM Memory. For example, the Intel 850E has been designed specifically for several models of the PC800, including the PC800-45 and the PC800-40. These two PC800 versions are said to be capable of running at 400 MHz speeds.

Meanwhile, in the case of the PC1066, there was previously a sort of disagreement on whether PC1066 and its RDRAM Memory technology is already available along with its incredible 533 MHz doubled clock. However, all of these issues about the PC1066 was laid to rest when Intel finally released its RDRAM Memory of the PC1066 variety that Intel said is specifically designed for its Desktop Boards D850EMV2.

As for the benefits that RDRAM Memory can possibly provide, there is hardly any doubt that a faster rate of data transfer tops the list. Obviously, for computers to get to enjoy this and many other benefits coming from RDRAM Memory, the natural choice has to be the PC800. Along with the PC1066, the PC800 is among the more common RDRAM Memory types that Intel makes use of in its newer models of the Pentium 4.
